With its 60th anniversary specials, Doctor Who opens a thrilling new era and prepares the audience for Ncuti Gatwa’s debut season as the Fifteenth Doctor. With Millie Gibson joining the cast as Ruby Sunday, the new companion, and Russell T. Davies returning to the role of showrunner, this era looks promising. We’ve already been given our first look at Gatwa and Gibson together on screen.
Fans can anticipate Bonnie Langford returning to her role as Mel Bush as well as a variety of new monsters, so the fun doesn’t end there. Speaking at The Star Beast premiere, Davies hinted at what season 15 will entail, saying that iconic bad guys like the Daleks and Cybermen won’t be making a comeback for a while.
He declared: “It’s brand-new. It was new to us with Disney and the whole new era, as it were, and Ncuti is new as well as Millie [Gibson]. I didn’t want to look because there aren’t any Daleks or Cybermen, and I didn’t want to go too far in the past.”
He did, however, restate his belief that he “loves” the Daleks and would be delighted to have them return at some point in his second run as series director.
